Dear Members,
During the Members Meeting on 02 December, the members will elect a new Board of European Bioplastics.
The Board is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the association, drafting the annual budget, and ensuring the decisions taken at the Members Meetings are implemented. To ensure a broad coverage of the interests and needs of the members, a broad representation across our member base is encouraged .
The Board will consist of up to nine representatives, each elected for the duration of two years. The current Board encourages members, that are not currently active, to consider actively contributing to the future strategic direction of European Bioplastics.
We kindly ask interested candidates to send us their application containing information about their motivation and objectives for applying as well as a short curriculum vitae (CV) by
Wednesday, 13 November 2019. Preferably by e-mail.
The applications and CVs will be circulated to the members before Monday, 18 November 2019.
Constituent Meeting in the afternoon:
All newly elected Board Members are asked to stay present after the Members Meeting. After a short break the new Board will assemble to elect the Chairperson, the two Vice-Chairpersons and a Treasurer.
Further important information:
The role of the Board is to set the strategic direction of the association, to draft the annual budget and to ensure the decisions taken at the members meetings are implemented. The exact profile of tasks is given in Article §10 and §11 of the statutes.
Candidates should be aware that being a Board Member means taking on active responsibility for the association. Although being supported by the office team, being a Board Member, you will have to donate some of your working time to the association. As an indication, you can expect to spend about 6-10 days for traveling a year plus 6-12 hours a month for correspondence, documents, calls, etc. (significantly depending on the function). Especially the chairpersons need to be aware of their important role within the association.
In the election, each member has one vote (three, in the case of premium membership; two in case of supporting membership) for each Board seat to be assigned. Voting is only possible if you are represented during the meeting (personally or by written vote transfer). Out of all candidates, the 9 candidates with the most votes will be elected.
We greatly value all members running for a Board Member position. It will be a unique opportunity to build a positive framework for the market and accelerate the growth of bioplastics in Europe.
Please do not hesitate to call / mail us in case of questions.
