BIOnTop Expert Breakfast - Register now! - 6 December 2022

Conventional plastic packaging is low cost, light weight, versatile, have good protective properties. But there are several downsides as conventional packaging depletes our renewable resources and challenges are faced in its recycling. PLA is currently the most affordable bio-based and biodegradable plastic but its biodegradability, and that of many other biodegradable biopolymers, is not granted in every environment. 
 
In the past 36 months, the experts of the EU-funded project BIOnTop have found ways to develop new bio-copolymers, biocomposites and coating formulations for packaging of food, fruits and personal care products, as well as innovative textiles.
