VIDEO CLIPS ABOUT BIOPLASTICS - FUNDING NEEDED

Dear Members,

In order to answer the increasing information demand and to become more visible, we will create a series of short animated video clips to explain the nature and benefits of bioplastics in an easy-to-understand and engaging way. The communications & marketing experts in EUBP's Working Group Communications have developed a concept and storyline for the videos to help us in our efforts to inform the public and to correct some of the most common misunderstandings about bioplastics.

How much budget can you contribute?

The total costs for the videos are estimated at €30-40,000. We will be funding the project through contributions from our member companies and partners. I therefore kindly ask you to indicate how much money you are able to give towards the production costs.

Content and story lines

The three video clips, each about 1 minute long, will be focussing on the following subjects:

Video 1 will explain the nature and benefits of bioplastics; the difference between fossil-based and bio-based plastics; feedstock options; benefits of using renewable resources for the production of plastics; CO2 mitigation potential; and closing the carbon loop. The first clip is targeted at the general (uninformed) public.

Video 2 will explain the end-of-life options of bioplastics; the different bioplastic materials and their properties; waste minimization potentials; mechanical and organic recycling; contributions to a more efficient waste management and closing the material loop. The second clip is targeted at the interested public, including the industry, which is somewhat informed but where misunderstandings or old facts still prevail.

Video 3 will explain how bioplastics are closing the carbon loop and how bioplastics are an essential part of the bioeconomy and help drive the transition to a circular economy. The third clip is targeted at all audiences and in particular at policy and decision makers.

Have a look at the first draft of the storyboard, which was developed in our Working Group Communications.

Content creation and production

  Simon_Tibbs

We will be working together with the London-based illustrator Simon Tibbs, who’s been working for some pretty big brands and names, including the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (he’s produced their videos for the New Plastics Economy Initiative) - have a look at some of references on his website. Simon’s already had some valuable feedback on our initial storyboard with regards to making it shorter and visually more engaging in order to keep the viewer watching and wanting to learn more. The videos will be produced in a 2D-animated style with an English-speaking narrator as well as subtitles that can be translated in different languages.

Distribution strategy and channels

We will share the videos on our social media channels (Twitter, LinkedIn, Youtube), on our website, in presentations, and editorial articles. We will also encourage our members and partners to use and share the videos, too. Through a similar distribution strategy with our new infographics, we’ve reached well over 20,000 impressions in the first week after launching the visuals last year.

To discuss your possible contribution or in case you have any further questions or need additional information to justify the extra budget internally, please contact Katrin Schwede on schwede@european-bioplastics.org or +49 (0)30 2848 2353.

Do not hesitate to contact us, if you have questions about this newsflash.
