Project Request

Dear Members,

Through the European Enterprise Network we have received the following request (deadline 31 July 2023):

An Italian SME is looking for European industrial and technical partners to finalise the Project Consortium set up to bid for a CBE 2023 call for proposals on industrial biotech processes. The Italian SME is part of a Consortium at present made up of 4 Universities (IT, DK, SE) covering both technical and theoretical activities, an Irish company as technology provider, and two Italian companies as end-users.

The Consortium is working on a proposal focused on the production of two streams of bio-based polymers for renewable plastics: PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoates - polyhydroxyalkanoates) and polyolefins, starting from waste wood materials. To finalise the Consortium's composition they are looking for partners as described below in order of priority:

1. Strictly technical partner (preferably university, but also private would be fine) who has experience and can work in the extraction of PHA from bacterial cultures that accumulate it ("PHA extraction from microbial cells") and subsequent purification, to allow end users to have samples of sufficient purity and quantity (even up to several tens of kg for the duration of the trial) to be able to carry out their own tests of the industrial usability of the product.
2. Industrial partner working (a) in the production/semi-processing of polymers (plastics) or (b) in the manufacturing of consumer goods produced from these, who is interested in evaluating renewable polyolefin precursors (therefore chain hydrocarbons short - "short chain hydrocarbons"), or through internal technical evaluation (theoretical, through analysis reports, and/or experimental) (case a), or through joint evaluation with its suppliers (case b).

If you are interested in supporting this consortium for 1) or 2), please contact our EU project manager Chiara Bearzotti (bearzotti@european-bioplastics.org) for more information.

We look forward to receiving your feedback.

Kind regards,
Your EUBP team
