Project Summary:

CELLMAT TECHNOLOGIES (Spain) is the coordinator of the proposal BIOEXPANSION: Towards the expansion of the biobased industry by developing and scaling up bio(co)polymers for a safe and circular foam market. The proposal is going to be submitted under the call HORIZON-JU-CBE-2025-IA-05  SSbD bio-based polymers/copolymers unlocking new market applications. Proposals under this topic are expected to demonstrate in an operational environment (TRL6-7) innovative biobased (co)polymer structures with market potential and functional properties that equal or improve the fossil-based benchmarks. Additionally, the proposals must demonstrate in a relevant environment (TRL 5) that the targeted (co)polymeric structure can be turned into end foamed products that meet market requirements. 

The BIOEXPANSION coordinator is keen on involving key players from outside the consortium in defining a replication roadmap and deployment strategy of the bio(co)polymers and foamed user cases developed within the project, based on new bio-based (co)polymers alternative to conventional plastics.  

For this purpose, an advisory board will be set up, the Multi-Actor Stakeholder Group.
