The debate: Biodegradable and compostable plastic bags
In April, the University of Plymouth published the study "Environmental deterioration of biodegradable, oxo-biodegradable, compostable, and conventional plastic carrier bags in the sea, soil, and open-air over a 3-year period". Following the dispute, Packaging Europe invited François de Bie, Chairman of EUBP, and Professor Richard Thompson from the University of Plymouth, to give their respective opinion on the study and its conclusions.
