Biome Bioplastics and Futamura partner to demonstrate compostable multilayer packaging
Biome Bioplastics and Futamura have partnered to demonstrate a range of bio-based and compostable multilayer films. The materials offer competitive performance, while tackling the negative environmental impact of traditional oil-based, non-recyclable multilayer packaging. Sustainable alternatives to challenging packaging formats such as multilayer pouches will be key to meeting the UK Plastics Pact target of 70% of plastic packaging being effectively recycled or composted by 2025.

bio!TOY B2B Conference, 27-28 March, Nuremberg, Germany
The polymer supply chain, the toy industry, brands, and the media are meeting for the first time in Nuremberg (Germany), the “Toy City”, on March 27-28. Toys are perfect to highlight the role of bio-based and biodegradable solutions to address product safety, functionality, and sustainability in the current plastic debate. These complex topics combine well with positive messages such as playful education, joy, creativity - and a good future. The event is part of a strategic approach. Using the momentum of increased interest, with very nice products on the market, and serious brand announcements, the conference shall inspire players and partnerships. A tabletop exhibition and communication programme will serve these goals. More than 60 representatives have already registered, amongst them leading toy brands such as Mattel, Playmobil or Ravensburger. The organisers recommend early booking due to space limitations. Sponsors would invest in building a future market.
