Bioplastic industry joins fight against Covid-19

Bioplastic industry joins fight against Covid-19

In 2019, there was a strong, quite single-minded push against plastics in general from many civil society organisations as well as from major players in the media, and politics predominantly switched to this opinion. Long before the Covid-19 outbreak, industry associations expressed great reservations as to whether the restrictions included in the Single-use Plastics Directive (SUPD) would have no negative effects on hygiene and general consumer safety…

13th International Conference on Bio-based Materials (ONLINE)

Despite the challenging environment, innovative companies find markets for their new bio-based building blocks, chemicals and polymers. The conference will introduce you to success stories and upcoming technological breakthroughs focussing on body care, cosmetics, food ingredients and pharmaceuticals. The event will also shed a light on the topics circular bioeconomy, biorefineries, pyrolysis, and especially lignin utilisation as well as on new opportunities for bio-based building blocks and polymers. As every year, the innovation award “Bio-based Material of the Year” will be given to the most innovative material and product on the market.

Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, this year’s conference will be held online. Subscribers of the EUBP newsletter and members of the EUBP network receive a 20% discount on the entrance fee using this code: EUBP2020. Thank you to nova-Institute.

Biopolymer Days 2020 (ONLINE)

During the past years, crucial legislative changes had been conducted in the field of plastics manufacturing and processing, which included significant provisions for the entire plastics industry. Europe has assumed an international lead role in fostering economic efficiency and sustainability in an efficient symbiosis. Bioplastics serve as an important element in all EU strategies. This is due to their bio-based foundation and biodegradability. The DACH region, as the economically strongest region in Europe, plays an important role in implementing those strategies.

In order to discuss latest developments and innovations in the bioplastics industry of the DACH region, ecoplus organized the Biopolymer Days, which are taking place on 17/18 June in Sankt Pölten, Austria. The programme will include sessions on bio-refineries and bioeconomy, the production of bio-based polymers, material properties and compounds, mechanical and organic recycling as well as product solutions and products made from bioplastics.

15th European Bioplastics Conference

The European Bioplastics Conference, taking place on 1/2 December 2020, is the leading business and discussion forum in Europe for the global bioplastics sector. With more and more brands and manufacturers embracing the potential of biopolymers, and with policy makers increasingly streamlining their efforts to create frameworks that benefit the growth of sustainable bio-industries, this is the time to put bioplastics on top of the agenda of a bio-based circular economy in Europe and beyond.

This year’s conference will focus on the latest innovations in bioplastics as well as on environmental aspects and opportunities for growth. With an attractive speaker line-up expected, the conference will, once again, gather senior decision makers from across the private sector bioplastics value chain, policy makers, leading research institutes, NGOs, and brand owners. The conference highlights the latest developments in the areas of bio-based and biodegradable materials and applications, bioplastics processing, end-of-life, sustainability and policy.
