Concrete policy asks for the revision of the EU Bioeconomy Strategy
Initiated by the Circular Economy Action Plan in 2015, the EU Bioeconomy Strategy is currently under review, which will provide a good opportunity for new political momentum and orientation. The Bioeconomy Strategy is needed to ensure that fossil resources are replaced with sustainable natural alternatives as part of the transition to a low-carbon circular economy. Its main purpose is to streamline existing policy approaches in this area. European Parliament supports use of biodegradable mulch films
On 24 October 2017, the Plenary of the European Parliament voted in favour of supporting biodegradable mulch films in the revision of the EU Fertilizers Regulation. These are the finalists for the annual Bioplastics Award 2017
In a well-received tradition, the winner of the annual Bioplastics Award will be announced by the bioplastics MAGAZINE during the 12th European Bioplastics Conference on 28 November in Berlin. A jury will select the winner from five finalists: a foldable, reusable insulating box by ICEE Containers (Australia), the futurecraft Biofabric shoe by Adidas and Amsilk (Germany), the first Bio-Technopolymer 'I am NATURE‘ by MAIP (Italy), a bioplastic toothbrush made of wood scraps by Biobrush (Germany), and the fully biobased pedestrian bridge by TU/e Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (The Netherlands).

Five-year EU flagship project to establish an innovative supply chain for FDCA and PEF
