“The Compostable by Design Platform (CbDP) is a cross value chain platform for collaboration and innovation in compostable materials, technologies and processes, aiming to ensure compostable materials are recycled at scale in Europe.
The platform will build a robust scientific and technical evidence base to inform and engage consumers, industry and policy makers in constructive discussion to implement circular pathways for compostable materials.
We have identified five key deliverables that are essential to achieving our goals.
- Harmonized compostability (disintegration) evaluation protocol
- Design guidelines for compostable packaging and other products
- Guidelines for improved disposal, collection, and organics recycling
- Guidelines for clear communication and implementation
- Guideline for labelling and claims
