MoeBIOS

Title: Improving waste management of biobased plastics and the upcycling in the packaging, textile and agricultural sectors

Expected results:

MoeBIOS works on improving the recycling technologies for biodegradable bioplastics deriving from textiles, agriculture and packaging applications. MoeBIOS focuses also on the collection and sorting of the bioplastic waste (simulated streams) and offers solutions for the upcycling and validation of the final recycled end-products.

The end-products will feature at least the same quality and functionality of the original grades. The three pilot plants in Spain, Italy and Germany will be located on the premises of actual industrial recyclers. The technology upscale will reach TRL 6-7 or even beyond.

MoeBIOS focuses on bioplastics for which recycling processes are still not in place: PLA and PLA blends, PHA and its blends, PBS, PEF and PBAT.

Active: 1 June 2024 – 30 May 2028
