EUBP was founded in 1993 as Interessengemeinschaft Biologisch Abbaubare Werkstoffe e.V. (IBAW, International Biodegradable Polymers Association & Working Group). It was initially a German and later a European representation and platform for the leading companies in the biodegradable plastics industry.
